Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Schedule a Second Opinion Clinic Appointment

If you are interested in having our expert IBD team review your child’s IBD case to provide recommendations to your primary gastroenterologist, or for formal transfer of care, please call 216-844-1765 and speak with Shannon Cifra, RN, to be scheduled.

Plan to spend an hour with us reviewing your child’s records, which should be sent to our office via fax prior to the scheduled appointment. Records can be faxed to 216-844-8750.

The experts at University Hospitals Rainbow Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center understand how difficult it can be to fully understand every aspect of your son or daughter’s complex inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) diagnosis. With multiple blood tests, X-rays, computed tomography (CT) scans and scopes being done, it can be a daunting task to bring everything together and see the big picture. That is why UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital is proud to offer our Pediatric IBD Second Opinion Clinic.

Whether it is Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, or IBD-undifferentiated, our IBD experts are available to thoroughly review your child’s medical course and provide up-to-date, evidence-based recommendations.

How it Works

Our multidisciplinary team will thoroughly review your child's medical plan, including current medications, blood tests, scans and scopes, without unnecessarily repeating tests. This will save you time and money. We will provide you with a medical summary, education, social work, nutritional therapy and support from a psychologist. This support, in addition to evidence-based recommendations, will help you manage your son or daughter’s IBD. We will also help you work with your school to ensure your child has appropriate accommodations.
