Optical Coherence Tomography OCT

The Cardiovascular Phenomics Core Laboratory is the world leader in analyzing optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. Our expert physicians and scientists were directly involved in the development of OCT technology and instrumental in its approval by the Food and Drug Administration for clinical use. Through the ODESSA trial, we officially ushered in OCT as a valuable technology for future research.

Our consistent and reliable data analysis has led us to be the trusted partner for clinical trials in advancing technologies, including stent development such as bioresorbable vascular scaffolds in the ABSORB trial, and many more.

As exemplified by being the first in assessing OCT technology in carotid arteries and exploring the utility of OCT in cardiac transplantation, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of this technology. From animal models to first-in-human devices, our experienced project teams and cutting-edge OCT analysis systems allow accurate measurements of vessel architecture.

Looking toward the future, our team, in partnership with Case Western Reserve University biomedical engineers, is constantly improving current tools and developing new ones to keep up with an advancing medical field.

From its origin to growth, our dedication to OCT and intravascular imaging has kept in line with the University Hospitals mission: To Heal. To Teach. To Discover.
