If patients are interested in paying out-of-pocket for weight loss surgery, our financial counselors can guide them through the process.
The primary measurement for whether someone is a good candidate for weight loss surgery is body mass index, or BMI. In general, an individual must have a BMI of 40 or higher, or between 35 and 40 with a weight-related medical condition such as diabetes, to be considered for surgery. You can use our BMI calculator to determine your number.
