Low Dose Rate Brachytherapy

The Department of Radiation Oncology at UH Uses Low Dose Rate (LDR) Brachytherapy to Treat Cancer

The Department of Radiation Oncology at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio, offers Low Dose Rate (LDR) brachytherapy to treat malignant tumors.

With LDR, our experts use sealed radiation sources to distribute the radiation dose at a short distance, generally to an area that is within a few inches of the source of radiation.

International Recognition for LDR

Our Radiation Oncology program at UH is internationally recognized for image guided LDR brachytherapy and molecular imaging for prostrate LDR brachytherapy.

Experts at the Department of Radiation Oncology customize the LDR radiation treatments to fit the patient’s specific needs by varying the radiation source strength and placement. In addition, LDR treatments can be temporary or permanent.
