Hematologic Malignancies Care Team

Advanced Knowledge and Experience Benefit Patients with Leukemia and Other Blood Cancers

University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center is home to one of the nation's most experienced and advanced centers for treating hematologic malignancies or cancers of the blood.

UH Seidman Cancer Center physicians and researchers take a collaborative approach to enhancing patient care. Over the years, our efforts have led to a number of advancements, including the following examples:

  • We helped establish the National Center for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, the only facility of its kind in the U.S. Located at UH Seidman Cancer Center, this unique partnership was created with nearly $20 million in grants from the state of Ohio and other organizations to study and develop new stem cell-based therapies.
  • We are a lead site for national clinical trials in hematologic malignancies, which are funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
  • We are aggressively pursuing innovative therapy development through clinical research. New techniques include chemotherapy, biological therapy and umbilical stem cell transplantation.
