After-Hours Access

A full-time librarian staffs the Library Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:30am and 4:00pm. Medical staff and employees of UH Richmond Medical Center, a campus of UH Regional Hospitals, as well as students doing rotations at the hospital, have the privilege of 24-hour Library access with an access card. Cards can be obtained by contacting the librarian and are available to all hospital employees. The access card must be returned to the librarian once employment with UH Richmond Medical Center is terminated or, in the case of students, once the assigned rotation is completed.

Please note, students must pay a $10.00 deposit to obtain an access card. This deposit is immediately refunded in full upon return of the access card.

The after-hours access policy is observed in the absence of the librarian, including evening hours, weekends, holidays and personal time taken off by the librarian. In all possible cases, adequate notice of time off will be given. The door to the Library is locked during all unstaffed hours. Under no circumstances should a non-employee be admitted after-hours, even in the presence of an employee.

Borrowing privileges are restricted to employees of UH Richmond Medical Center and students rotating at the hospital. Materials are not to be taken from the Library in the absence of the librarian. All materials must be signed out during regular hours. Reference materials and journals must remain in the Library at all times; however, a photocopier is available and is free of charge. Books circulate for 2 weeks and audio/video materials for 1 week. No more than 5 items may be signed out at a time; if more than 2 items are overdue, borrowing privileges will be suspended. Library patrons will be charged to replace materials that are lost or not returned.
