64-Slice CT Scanner

The 64-slice CT scanner is one of the most advanced systems on the market and helps expand clinical boundaries in cardiac, pulmonary, trauma, and pediatric imaging. The scanner has four times as many detectors as a typical CT scanner and combines outstanding image quality with astonishing speed. It can produce detailed pictures of any organ in a few seconds and provide sharp, clear, three-dimensional images, including 3-D images of the blood vessels.

A 64-slice scanner can create a high-resolution image of a heart, brain or a pair of lungs in approximately five seconds. It can also scan the entire body, looking for a blood clot, in about 30 seconds. The most exciting part is the scanner can be utilized to study the beating heart, providing the first clear non-invasive images of the heart and its major vessels without the blurring caused by motion.

Although the cost of each scanner is high, the equipment will quickly have a significant impact on all areas of medicine including, but not limited to, cancer detection, heart disease diagnosis, and the treatment of strokes. The technology is also a proven lifesaver for emergency room patients who require fast, precise, crystal-clear images of their injuries facilitating rapid diagnosis and treatment.
