Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center

Improving Quality of Life for Persons with Cardiopulmonary Disease

University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute at University Hospitals Conneaut Medical Center offers a three-phase program for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. The program offered through the Cardiovascular Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center includes education, diet, and exercise, benefiting patients with varying needs.

The three phases of our rehabilitation program includes:

Phase I (Inpatient Program)

  • Education on cardiopulmonary disease
  • Limited exercise program
  • Counseling with a certified social worker who can provide answers to questions about insurance and health care arrangements

Phase II (Outpatient Program)

  • Professional assistance continues with education, nutrition counseling, and an individualized exercise program.
  • During workouts, a telemetry unit monitors the patient's heart rate and pattern while the staff observes blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturation.
  • A final evaluation will be sent to each patient's physician upon program completion.

Phase III (Optional Maintenance Program)

  • Allows patients to continue to work out on the same equipment used in Phase II, as part of a safe, healthy exercise program
