The Marcy R. Horvitz Pediatric Emergency Center & Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital is a busy, full-service pediatric emergency department that provides emergency care to thousands of ill and injured children throughout the Northeast Ohio region annually. The department houses the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in northern Ohio and is staffed 24/7 by pediatric emergency medicine specialists. A strong team of clinical support staff dedicated to providing the highest-quality emergency care for children—including outstanding pediatric nurses, respiratory therapists, paramedics, clinical pharmacists, social workers and child life specialists—works collaboratively to provide high-quality, individualized and compassionate care to every child and family presenting to the department.
A variety of outreach programs are offered by the division faculty, including Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses; pediatric-focused education for prehospital providers; local, regional and national presentations on topics related to pediatric emergency care; community outreach projects; and representation in community, state, and national organizations.
