Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship
The three year fellowship training program in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital is designed to train physicians and physician-scientists in preparation for successful careers in academic Pediatric Gastroenterology. As an ACGME-accredited training program, we offer 1 fellowship trainee position per year. We currently do not sponsor H1B visas.
The mission of our fellowship program is to educate our fellows to develop into well-trained pediatric gastroenterologists able to function as clinicians, clinical-educators, or clinical-researchers.
The education of our trainees includes not only the skills to diagnose and treat pediatric gastroenterological disorders and perform procedures safely, but also to develop compassionate physicians. We want them to treat the patient as a whole human being in a family centered health care system, understanding and respecting cultural, ethnic and educational differences. Our goal is to instill strong work habits, a desire for self- improvement and an eagerness for continuing education.
We will educate our fellows so they are able to teach others, including medical students, residents, families, patients, co-workers, and the community. During the training, the fellows will also develop research skills to add to their knowledge in pediatric gastroenterology, learn how to read and interpret the literature critically, and become successful in either an academic or clinical setting.
At the end of their training our fellows will be able to function without supervision in the field of pediatric gastroenterology.
