Emergency Medicine Fellowship, Pediatric

The pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital is designed to prepare physicians for rewarding careers in pediatric emergency medicine fully. Our three-year program offers a robust, challenging clinical experience that enables fellows to progressively develop the knowledge base, skill set and professional attributes needed to provide outstanding, evidence-based care for acutely ill and injured children and to become leaders in our subspecialty.

Through our training program, fellows are exposed to a broad range of clinical, scholarly, teaching, administrative and advocacy experiences. These experiences enable each of our fellows to build solid foundations for successful careers in pediatric emergency medicine. We collaborate with individuals entering our program to advance their education and experience in a manner that will best promote their specific career goals. Graduates of our program pursue careers in academic pediatric emergency medicine as medical educators, researchers, administrators, and quality and patient safety advocates. They also build careers as pediatric emergency medicine physicians in community settings and serve as child advocates and leaders in our field at the local, regional and national levels.

Trainees who complete our program are eligible to take the subspecialty board examination in pediatric emergency medicine. Our program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and will accept two fellows per year. We welcome applications from graduates of both Pediatric and Emergency Medicine residency programs.

Required for Fellowship:

• Board-eligibility or certification in pediatrics or emergency medicine
• Application submitted via ERAS
• Participation in the NRMP Fall Pediatric Fellowship Match
• A minimum of three letters of recommendation. At least one recommendation letter must be from a practicing pediatric emergency medicine physician.
