Expert Care for Serious Illnesses and Injuries at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital

When a child has a serious, life-threatening injury or illness, it can be one of the most difficult challenges a parent will ever face. In this situation, it is important to get the best medical care and most compassionate treatment possible for the child. At University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), we take care of more than 1,500 children each year who are dealing with a wide range of illnesses and injuries, from young cancer patients with rare tumors to babies recovering from heart surgery.

At UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, we are committed to family-centered care, making parents an important part of the team caring for children. In each of our hospital rooms, a twin bed is available for parents to remain with their child, 24 hours a day, even sleeping at his or her bedside. Our critical care specialists will be close at hand for both children and their parents at all times.
