Leading Edge Care in Pediatric Neurology
The Pediatric Neurologists at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s are nationally recognized as a center of excellence by peer physicians across the country. Our team of pediatric specialists brings clinical expertise capable of diagnosing, evaluating and treating the full range of pediatric neurological disorders. We also have a strong tradition of providing high quality, family-centered care.
Our pediatric neurologists use state of the art equipment and advanced therapies, techniques and medications to care for and treat our patients. Our neurologists frequently participate in clinical trials, studies and other research to continue advancing diagnostics and treatment of pediatric neurological conditions.
Multidisciplinary Approach to Neurological Care
The neurological system controls everything in the body: Every movement, every heartbeat, and every thought. When a neurological condition affects this system, it can impact other systems in the body—and vice versa. That’s why we take a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to care.
We offer several condition-focused clinics within UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s and throughout the UH system of care where multiple specialists work collaboratively to treat the whole patient. Our focused, multidisciplinary clinics include:
- Comprehensive Autism Center and Diagnostic Clinic
- Spinal Muscular Atrophy Clinic and Treatment Program
- A Comprehensive Level IV Epilepsy Center
- Neurofibromatosis 2 Center
- Collaborative Brain Clinic
- Pediatric Vascular Anomalies Laser Treatment Program
- Multidisciplinary Eczema Clinic
- Myelo Clinic and Spina Bifida Program
- Stroke Task Force
From the Womb to Adolescence—and Everything in Between
Like most health conditions, the earlier a problem can be identified and treated the better. Our team works closely with UH MacDonald Women’s Hospital division of Maternal Fetal Medicine—which include pediatric geneticists—to diagnose certain neurological diseases before a baby is born. This provides valuable time for parents to be educated on what to expect and the team to develop a neurology treatment plan.
Even for conditions that cannot be detected before birth, early intervention is key to achieving optimal outcomes. For instance, diagnosing and treating epilepsy in children to control seizures can help reduce the impact on growth and development.
We pride ourselves on our family-centered care. We want to include the patient and their family in every decision, every step of the way. When adolescents are ready to move from pediatric to adult care, we help ease the transition through patient and family education.
