Ongoing Studies

Adolescent Schizophrenia

University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is currently conducting a research study and enrolling adolescent patients to enroll in Naben, an eight-week study of the efficacy and safety of the medication Naben (Sodium Benzoate), as an add-on treatment of schizophrenia in adolescents. Naben is enrolling clinically stable (with residual symptoms), male and female participants in good physical health ages 12-17, with a primary diagnosis of schizophrenia. Participants may not turn 17 before the end of the study. Participants must have an unchanged anti-psychotic regimen for at least eight weeks prior to entry in the study. Autism Study

University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is currently enrolling children and adolescents between the ages of 5-17 year diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. This is a 24 week study that is looking at the efficacy and safety of an investigational medication to possibly improve social behavior and communication. Eligible participants may receive a thorough psychiatric evaluation, investigational study drug and close follow up from a pediatric psychiatrist. Bipolar

University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center is currently conducting a research study and enrolling subjects for Pfizer, a seven-week study to investigate the safety and effectiveness of Geodon as a treatment for pediatric mania in association with bipolar disorder in pediatric patients 10-17 years. Current symptoms supporting the diagnosis must be present for at least seven days prior to screening. Other eligibility criteria may apply. Child and Adolescent Depression Study

University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is currently enrolling children and adolescents between the ages of 7-17 diagnosed with major depressive disorder for a clinical research study. Eligible participants may receive a thorough psychiatric evaluation, investigational study drug and close follow up from a pediatric psychiatrist.
