University Hospitals provides immediate, expert care for all types of trauma, including severe traumatic injuries, brain and head trauma, orthopedic trauma and pediatric trauma. When seconds count, our experienced trauma team coordinates efforts with a wide range of specialists to deliver comprehensive care to all trauma patients, 24 hours a day.
Fast Assessment and Treatment for Trauma
When a patient suffers a traumatic injury, timely care is essential. Injuries such as blunt trauma, ballistic trauma (bullet wounds), complex trauma and fractures, spinal cord and head trauma must be evaluated and rapidly moved to the appropriate level of care.
The trauma team at UH is trained to quickly assess and treat many different types of trauma, including blunt trauma and penetrating trauma, pelvis trauma, facial trauma, limb salvage primary injuries, orthopedic trauma and pediatric trauma.

UH provides coordinated trauma care with our verified Level I trauma center in Cleveland as well as our network of regional level III trauma centers.

UH is home to Cleveland’s only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.
Neurocritical Care
Our trauma team works with neurology and neurosurgery specialists to provide care for patients with traumatic brain injuries.
Mental Trauma
UH offers psychiatric management of trauma disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder.
