General Surgery Residency Education

The Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Case Medical Center General Surgery Residency Program prepares our surgical residents for the high level of performance required of specialists, or to continue on as an excellent general surgeon. Our training not only focuses on medical knowledge and surgical skill but also incorporates patient care and professionalism. Our residents graduate as well-rounded, knowledgeable surgeons who are able to provide exceptional care. Learn more about the educational and training components of our program, including:

Evaluation & Feedback

As a resident, you will receive monthly written evaluations. In addition, six clinical and operative performance evaluations are required for graduation. Informal formative feedback is performed routinely as part of the training experience. Our chairman, program director, faculty members and academic administration have an open-door policy for scheduling meetings.
