The Department of Psychiatry at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center has been my second home since 2001 when I began my own psychiatry training here. I am so proud to now be the Program Director in the same Department that has supported and shaped my career. Spend a few minutes on our website and I think you’ll agree; we have something special here.

Our residency training program offers a firm foundation of clinical and educational experiences coupled with diverse elective opportunities to help prepare you for a career in mental health. We are innovators and collaborators in residency education.

Most importantly, each member of our Department, from Chairman Dr. Ronis to our first-year trainees, is committed to excellence in residency education. Our faculty genuinely cares about teaching and mentorship. We have fantastic, dedicated coordinators. Our residents are talented, kind, creative and supportive. Simply put, our psychiatry residency is the best.

My personal philosophy as training director is that it is my job to see that each individual resident is taken as far along their path of professional development and enrichment as possible. Nothing makes me happier than seeing our residents succeed.

So, if you are looking for a dynamic residency program, then University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is the place to train. I look forward to hearing from you.

Greetings and congratulations on your decision to pursue a career in psychiatry. The field of psychiatry is one of the most intellectually-stimulating, engaging and rewarding medical specialties which truly offers an opportunity for lifelong learning and growth. Our residency program at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center offers a unique opportunity to start your training in a department that offers a rich mix of acclaimed faculty, diverse clinical experiences and departmental culture of respect and support. Our department truly values and protects the identity and values of our residency program, which I believe translates to an outstanding experience for our residents, one which leaves them prepared to enter whatever facet of psychiatry that excites them the most.

My own journey at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center began in 2008 when I started my fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine. While I was fortunate to receive an excellent and diverse experience in the world of “CL Psychiatry” during my fellowship, my passion was really in the sub-specialty area of Reproductive Psychiatry, or the psychiatric care of women during periods of reproductive transitions (i.e., puberty, pregnancy, postpartum and menopause). Through the support and mentorship of our Chairman and other senior faculty members, I have been fortunate to grow this interest, which is now the full focus of my clinical work. The best part of my job is to welcome residents onto our Women’s Mental Health service and know that we are graduating residents who have comfort in treating women at all stages of their lives. I am also very proud to be a part of our Dual-Track Women’s Mental Health/ Public and Community Psychiatry Fellowship, one of few fellowships nationally with a focus on Reproductive Psychiatry.

In short, I could not be more proud of our department and our residency training program and appreciate your interest.
