Eye Image Analysis Reading Centers

Our Mission

Providing superior image analysis and trial development support for clinical trials and studies examining the effects of drugs, devices and diseases on the cornea and the retina.

Eye Image Analysis Reading Centers

The Eye Image Analysis Reading Centers at University Hospitals Eye Institute and Case Western Reserve University comprises two of the leading ophthalmic image analysis centers:

Cornea Image Analysis Reading Center

Provides ophthalmic image analysis and clinical trial development support for trials examining the effects of drugs, devices and diseases on the cornea and anterior segment.

Retina Diseases Imaging Analysis Reading Center

Evaluates the pathology of fundus photographs, fluorescein angiograms, or other retinal imaging modalities for prospective clinical trials.

Established in 1989 at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University, the two eye image analysis reading centers have extensive experience with multicenter, national and international, federal and corporate-sponsored clinical trials. Our standardized protocols ensure rapid and consistent analyses, while our technical expertise results in refined acquisition, training and analysis techniques. This technical expertise is enhanced by significant medical director involvement in study design to ensure the highest quality and limit inconsistencies.

The Eye Image Analysis Reading Centers are governed by the University Hospitals Institutional Review Board, which is fully accredited by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs. Our staff follows the regulations set forth by Good Clinical Practices, International Conference on Harmonization, Department of Health and Human Services, and Food and Drug Administration regulations.
