Education & Training

The goal of our OB/GYN residency program is to educate physicians to become outstanding obstetrician-gynecologists who are fully capable of becoming leaders in all areas of women's health care. UH MacDonald Women's Hospital serves as a tertiary referral center, affording robust obstetrics and gynecologic experiences in addition to exposure to all major subspecialties. The breadth of resident clinical experience is enhanced by a myriad of educational conferences/sessions and workshops on Wednesday mornings, including formal programs in research and advocacy.

The clinical curriculum consists of twelve rotations each year with each rotation lasting one month. The number of vacation days is specific to the postgraduate year of training.

Research

Throughout their four years at UH MacDonald Women's Hospital, resident involvement in research is encouraged and supported. As part of the curriculum, residents receive lectures on research development, faculty mentorship, and funding for conference presentations. Notably, our residents have ample opportunities for collaboration given our location on Case Western Reserve University's campus. Historically, resident projects have resulted in presentations at local or national meetings and in publications in peer-reviewed journals.
