Neurocritical care integrates clinical expertise in neurology, neurosurgery and intensive care medicine to diagnose and treat critically ill patients with neurological disease. University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University, offers a comprehensive ACGME-accredited Neurocritical Care Fellowship that provides physicians with a unique combination of cognitive, diagnostic and therapeutic skills necessary for the delivery of neurocritical care.

Our Mission

The mission of the Neurocritical Care Fellowship training program is to prepare physicians for the independent practice of neurocritical care. Our approach is based on supervised clinical work, with increasing patient care responsibility over the course of the two-year training program. The Neurocritical Care Fellowship Program, in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University, has a strong foundation of organized instruction in basic elements of neurological, neurosurgical and medical aspects of critical care.

Fellowship Aims

The Fellowship in Neurocritical Care will achieve its mission by producing graduates who:

  • Are highly competent in the comprehensive, multisystem care of the critically-ill neurological and neurosurgical patient. 
  • Are prepared to become board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology subspecialty of Neurocritical Care.
  • Have the knowledge and skills to become future leaders in the field of Neurocritical care.
