Tara Pell, MA, MT-BC
Tara (Griest) Pell is a board certified music therapist with University Hospitals Connor Integrative Health Network, serving patients at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center. Joining University Hospitals in February of 2011, she has dedicated her time to adult oncology, sickle cell disease, geriatrics and physical rehabilitation. She also provides services to the Senior Compass program at PNC Fairfax Connection and is involved in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s music and literacy program for preschoolers called Toddler Rock. Tara completed undergraduate coursework at Baldwin-Wallace University in 2000, receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Therapy with a minor in psychology. She interned at Heather Hill Health Care Center in Chardon, Ohio in Alzheimer’s/dementia care and later completed her master’s work in music therapy at Saint Mary-of-the-Words College in Indiana. Tara additionally received training in neurologic music therapy at the Neurologic Music Therapy Training Institute at Colorado State University.
Tara spent the past decade working with children with multiple developmental and special needs, adults with cognitive disabilities and geriatrics at the Beck Center for the Arts where she completed her time as Associate Director of Creative Arts Therapies in 2011. She has served as the membership chair for the Great Lakes region of the American Music Therapy Association and in several capacities at the state association level. As a presenter, Tara has lectured on topics in music therapy locally and nationally.
