University Hospitals Offers Healing through Musical Harmony

Through the Healing Harmony Program, University Hospitals Connor Whole Health provides access to vocal or instrumental musical selections as part of our philosophy that music plays an important role in the healing process. This important program, co-directed by Paul Ousley, MT-BC and Samantha Huffman, MT-BC, offers the opportunity to reduce anxiety and promote healing through music. Patients and visitors benefit from a soothing environment and volunteers benefit from the joy of sharing a talent with others, one note at a time.

Share Musical Talents for Improved Well-Being

Volunteers with the Healing Harmony Program are able to share their musical talents at a variety of convenient locations throughout the University Hospitals system. Please contact us if you would like to share your musical talents at one of our UH locations or if you are interested in learning more about music therapy and the benefits for well-being.

Music Therapy Volunteer Requirements

If you or someone you know has the talent to perform solo musical selections, both vocal or instrumental, from a program approved style, and are 15 years or older, please consider volunteering your time and talent to our Healing Harmony Program (considerations may be made regarding age and level of musical ability). Pianos will be furnished onsite, but otherwise volunteers must also be able to provide their own instrument and be willing to commit to perform at least one hour per week at times and dates set together with Healing Harmony director(s). Volunteering times will be set around the volunteer's availability.

As part of our established volunteering program, all Healing Harmony Program applicants must review set guidelines prior to beginning volunteer service.
