Collaborative Approach to Treating Head and Neck Cancers
For patients with cancers of the head and neck, our ENT specialists work closely with experts from UH Seidman Cancer Center to provide each person with a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to their treatment plan.
Advanced Diagnostic Testing Available Across Northeast Ohio
UH fellowship-trained otolaryngologists use advanced diagnostic tools to examine all areas of the ears, nose, sinuses, throat and other areas to find the root cause of your problems. In many cases, we will conduct examinations with a thin, lighted tube called an endoscope. Our endoscopic and other advanced imaging equipment helps identify symptom causes, but also helps us rule out more serious conditions.
We may also use X-ray, computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of your head or neck. Such diagnostic testing services are available at a range of convenient locations throughout Northeast Ohio.
Leading Edge Treatments
Many ENT conditions require medical treatment or ENT surgery, or a combination of both. Our team will work with you to find the treatments that help you meet your health goals and improve your overall wellness.
Some of our treatments are among the most advanced in the region, including proton therapy which is a specialized and highly targeted type of radiation treatment for many kinds of cancer, including those in the head and neck.
Other advanced treatments we offer include:
- Endoscopic surgery: These minimally invasive procedures remove polyps, blockages and tumors around the nose, sinuses, ear or throat.
- Inspire therapy: A pacemaker-like device is implanted in the upper chest to reduce sleep apnea and snoring symptoms. UH was the first to offer this sleep apnea treatment in Northeast Ohio.
- Pulsed-KTP laser: A minimally invasive procedure for removing lesions on vocal cords.
