Curriculum

Gastroenterology fellows in Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Gastroenterology Fellowship Program rotate through a clinical core block during the first two years of training. During this time, they consult on the following:

  • Endoscopy services at both hospitals
  • Gastroenterology consultation service at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center
  • Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) service at University Hospitals
  • Liver consultation and transportation service at University Hospitals
  • Primary gastroenterology consultation service at UH Cleveland Medical Center

Research and Scholarly Activity

The trainees spend the majority of their third year doing research and scholarly activity. Faculty members assist trainees as mentors in research, presentations and publications. Areas of interest for research and study include:

  • Endoscopic ultrasound
  • Gastrointestinal oncology
  • Genetics
  • Immunology
  • Inflammatory bowel disease and others
  • Liver disease
  • Therapeutic endoscopy
