Pediatric Residency

Interview day

Please keep in mind that this is just a sample schedule, provided to give you an idea of what the day might include. The activities, times and locations on your confirmed schedule may be different.

The evening before your interview (casual attire):

5:30 p.m. / TOUR OF UH RAINBOW CENTER FOR WOMEN & CHILDREN and RESIDENT DINNER

A van will pick you up at the front of the Courtyard Marriot. On the way to dinner, we will make a stop at UH Rainbow Center for Women & Children, the site of our primary care clinic, for a brief tour. Following the tour, applicants will then be brought to a casual dinner at one of our residents’ homes. At dinner, you will have an opportunity to meet and chat with several of our current residents.

Interview Day Schedule (business attire):

7:15 a.m. / Meet in the University Hospitals Lerner Tower Lobby

The main entrance to University Hospitals is located on UH Drive. If you are driving, park in the UH Visitors Garage, which is also located on UH Drive, off of Euclid Ave. The garage will be on your right and the main entrance to the hospital will be straight ahead. You will be given a parking pass when you leave so parking will be free.

7:30 – 8:45 a.m. / WELCOME SESSION WITH PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Meet with one of our program directors who will provide you with information and highlights about our program. If you still have questions after this session, you will have a second opportunity to ask them later in the day at your brief one-on-one meeting with the program director. 

8:45 – 9:20 a.m. / hospital tour

One of our residents or chief residents will take you on a tour of our beautiful facility.

9:30 – 10:25 a.m. / Meet with the Program Directors

You will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with one of our program directors to ask them any remaining questions.

10:35 – 11:25 a.m. / Faculty Interviews

This is your opportunity to discuss your experience and future plans and to ask questions about UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. Although we are unable to provide you with a list of your interviewers in advance, if you informed us of a subspecialty interest, we will do our best to match you with a faculty member from that subspecialty.

11:35 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. / resident conference

You will be able to observe and participate in our resident conference, which may be a Pediatric Management Conference, Intern or Senior Report or Grand Rounds. 

12:30 – 1:30 p.m. / lunch

1:30 – 2 p.m. / meet with the department chair

You will have an opportunity to meet with our Pediatric Department Chair, Dr. Marlene Miller. 

2 - 2:15 p.m. / end of day

A residency coordinator or chief resident will escort you back to the UH Lerner Tower lobby.
