Two Leaders Affiliate To Provide The Very Best Care

University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s and Nationwide Children’s hospitals have formed an innovative affiliation – The Congenital Heart Collaborative – for the care of patients with congenital heart disease from the fetus to adulthood. The innovative collaboration provides families with access to one of the most extensive and experienced heart teams – highly skilled in the delivery of quality clinical services, novel therapies and a seamless continuum of care.

For the care of adults with congenital heart disease, The Congenital Heart Collaborative is combining expertise with UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute adult heart and heart surgery experts, technology and programs. This unique, highly collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to congenital heart care provides access to the latest clinical trials, advanced technology and procedures/techniques not currently available at other area hospitals.

UH Rainbow–A National Leader In Neonatology

UH Rainbow’s NICU, which unites advanced technology, research and clinical services in a homelike environment, ranked #6 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report magazine, with a 96 percent survival rate – one of the best in the nation. This internationally renowned neonatal care team works closely with nationally recognized maternal fetal medicine specialists from UH MacDonald Women’s Hospital and Rainbow cardiologists to provide highly integrated, state-of-the-art prenatal diagnosis, fetal intervention and seamless transition from fetal to neonatal care.

Nationwide Children’S Hospital–A National Leader In Congenital Heart Care

According to the latest data from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), Nationwide Children’s Heart Center is designated a high-volume center, with outcomes ranking among the best in the nation. For the past four years (2011 – 2014), in the STAT category 5 (most complex surgery level), the Nationwide Heart Center’s mortality rate was 13 percent, compared with the STS all-participant average of 16 percent. The Nationwide Children’s Heart Center is currently ranked #9 in the nation for pediatric heart and heart surgery by U.S. News & World Report.
