Recruitment

The University Hospitals St. John Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program accepts PGY1 applications only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) administered by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

Our program is listed as University Hospitals Community Consortium Program (UHCC/Westlake) Internal Medicine Residency in ERAS.

We select candidates for PGY1 positions through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).  Our NRMP Program Code is 2189140C2.

We will not offer positions outside of the NRMP Match.

We are unable to accept applications requiring ECFMG, J-1 or H1-B visa sponsorship.

We use email as our primary method of contact with applicants.  Please check your email frequently.

Application Requirements

Before interviewing, we will need the following items via ERAS:

  • Completed ERAS application
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Medical School transcript
  • Personal Statement
  • MSPE (Dean’s Letter) – **These will be sent out to the residency programs from the medical schools in October
  • COMLEX and/or COMLEX score reports and/or USMLE and/or USMLE score reports

University Hospitals St. John Medical Center has a Non-Tobacco use policy. New hires are tested for all tobacco use as part of the pre-employment lab screening process. Interviews

Interviews for the Internal Medicine Residency Program will begin in November 2023 for the upcoming 2024-2025 Academic Year. Candidates will be interviewed by the Program Director or Associate Program Director, core faculty members, and current residents. All interviews will be virtual for this recruitment season and offered through video conferencing.
