Thank you for your interest in the University Hospitals Parma Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program. Our residency program is committed to our residents and providing them with the best possible training. We deliver a challenging, stimulating, and rewarding curriculum designed to impart confidence in our residents to become the best physicians possible. We have dedicated faculty and Graduate Medical Education staff, ensuring each of our residents’ success.
Our three-year ACGME accredited program combines training in the inpatient and outpatient settings, providing a rich and stimulating experience for our residents. The program is open to 24 residents and provides an optimum balance of system-integrated academic, procedural, and hands-on training and research. Like other programs within the University Hospitals Community Consortium, we commit to not only providing excellent, patient-focused, compassionate care to our patients but also towards one another by providing our residents with resources, support, and ample time to live their lives outside of residency. We pride ourselves on the strong, teamwork focused relationships that we develop and diverse learning opportunities that provide our residents with the best possible training environment.

- 100% of graduates will report that their residency prepared them for unsupervised practice of Internal Medicine.
- 100% of graduates will pass the American Board of Internal Medicine exam on the first attempt.
- 50% of residents will seek employment in a Community based hospital.
- 50% of residents will be retained within the University Hospitals system.
- 30% of residents will practice Internal Medicine in the outpatient setting.
- 25% of graduates will pursue subspecialty fellowship after residency.

The UH PMC Internal Medicine program's mission is to provide a superior educational experience through an academically oriented and evidence-based curriculum to each resident, developing them into future leaders in the Internal Medicine field. We strive to develop trainees who routinely seek the perspective of other disciplines and professions. We aim to enhance the trainee’s knowledge and compassion by focusing on serving patients with only the highest quality of patient-centered medical care, improving the health of the community of Parma and the Greater Cleveland area, and ultimately advancing the specialty of Internal medicine.

For more than 50 years, University Hospitals Parma Medical Center has been serving the residents' healthcare needs across the Cleveland metro area. UH Parma is a nine-floor acute care hospital and includes four medical buildings and satellite facilities in several surrounding cities.
This 332-bed full-service community hospital employs 2,000 Northeast Ohio residents, including more than 500 physicians trained in more than 30 specialties. UH Parma consists of experts in emergency medicine, heart and vascular, cancer, bariatric surgery, pain management, and rehabilitation and received national recognition for its orthopedics program and cardiovascular outcomes.
