Welcome from the Chief Residents to the UH Geauga Internal Medicine website!
We’re happy to outline the strengths of the UH Geauga program, and hopefully shed some light on why this program is a true gem located in the beautiful northeast Ohio area! Our training program is based in both the suburban and rural communities just outside of Cleveland. Leveraging the larger University Hospitals Health System’s network of over 22 medical centers, our residents have a wide variety of clinical experiences to explore. Whether it is our busy inpatient teams at rural UH Geauga Medical Center or the tertiary referral medical ICU experience at UH Cleveland Medical Center, our residents have the unique ability to tailor medical sites and patient demographics to best prepare them for a career of their choice.
Within each of these clinical venues, our residents get the opportunity to work with real leaders in their fields. Are you interested in a career in hospital medicine? Look no further than our own program director, Dr. LoPresti, who is nationally known for his expertise and leadership within hospital medicine and point-of-care ultrasound. Interested in primary care? Then come work with our team of true community outpatient providers, all cornerstones of their communities. Oh yeah, and interested in pursuing fellowship training? Just look at all of the opportunities for subspecialty rotations and research that our sites like UH Cleveland Medical Center and UH Seidman Cancer Center provide! It’s no wonder our self-driven and capable graduates find themselves employed as hospitalists in major academic centers, serving rural communities as PCPs, or inspired to do fellowships from critical care in New York to endocrinology in California, and everywhere in-between.
Well, our secret is out! At UH Geauga IM you can have a small program feel but still be a part of something big. And Northeast Ohio? It also has a great mix of sports, entertainment, culture and breathtaking nature. The resident body is a close-knit group, with regular occurring social and wellness events. We enjoy living downtown or in the Beachwood or Mayfield areas allowing for great highway and amenity access with rotations within an average of 30 minutes.
