Kate Proehl DNP, PMHCNS
Dr. Proehl currently serves as The Director of The Community Psychiatry NP Fellowship at Circle Health Services, The Centers for Families and Children. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Director of Advanced Practice Education, Psychiatry Director and Associate Medical Director.
Dr. Proehl is a preceptor for the nursing schools at Case Western, Akron University and Kent State, and has twice received the Barbara Donaho Distinguished Leadership in Learning Award from the latter.
Dr Proehl has worked as a consultant and expert adviser for evolving psychiatric nurse practitioner fellowships at the University of Cincinnati and the Community Healthcare Network, New York, NY.
She has practiced the last 18 of her 33 year career as a PMHCNS focused on community mental health. Prior to this, her work included psychiatric nursing at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation; psychiatric homecare services to the elderly with the Benjamin Rose Institute; and a position as a psychiatric nurse consultant for Makerere University in Uganda, where she helped design and implement the country's first BSN program.
Dr. Proehl holds a bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Food Science from Michigan State. She also holds a nursing doctorate, a master's in nursing, and a doctor of nursing practice, all from Case Western. She is 2014 Fellow of The Public and Community Psychiatry Fellowship at Case Western Reserve University, School of Medicine.
