Curriculum and Components of the Community Psychiatric NP Fellowship Program
Psychiatric NP Fellowship Program Excellence
Community psychiatry nurse practitioner (NP) fellows work in the community clinic setting receiving concurrent, competency-based supervision provided by experienced psychiatric advanced practice nurses.
While training is primarily offered by advanced practice nurses, collaborative training with University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center psychiatrists, psychiatry residents and community based clinical pharmacists is utilized.
Competency-based mentoring focuses on the following:
- Expanding diagnostic skills
- Healthy role socialization into the advanced practice position
- Application of psychotherapy appropriate to the setting
- Utilization of evidence-based psychopharmacology
Customized workshops and clinical group supervision complement process-based training.
