Conferences

AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting

The resident conference and didactic schedules are scheduled over a 2 year cycle so that every resident experiences the full curriculum twice during residency. This repetition allows learners at all levels to gain valuable educational information appropriate to their educational needs. The didactic schedule is organized into 6-8 week blocks covering specific subspecialty topics. Workshops and simulation events relevant to the subspecialty topic are also scheduled during the block to reinforce the didactic learning.

Once monthly, Wednesday mornings at 7 a.m.

Pathology Conference

Once monthly, Wednesday at 7 a.m., presented by full-time faculty pathologists

Journal Club

Quarterly, Wednesday 7 a.m. at University Hospitals or an evening with dinner off-site

Quality Assessment and Morbidity/Mortality Conference

Once monthly, Wednesday at 7 a.m.

Tumor Board

Wednesdays at Noon (VA Medical Center), 4 - 5 p.m. (MetroHealth)
Fridays at 7 a.m. (University Hospitals)

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice

We are committed to improving awareness around these topics and have enlisted speakers who represent a wide variety of viewpoints. We have quarterly didactics around DEIJ -Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice, wellness and professional development. Below is a sample of our activities:

  • All residents and faculty attend the ‘Cook Ross Implicit Bias Training’
  • Participate in cancer screening at a homeless shelter
  • Participate in Cleveland Youth Summit - Black Men in White Coats
  • Volunteer at the Regional Student National Medical Association (SNMA) conference. SNMA supports current and future underrepresented minority medical students, addressing the needs of underserved communities
  • Department-wide participation in the homeless stand-down event at First Energy Stadium
  • Participate in Virtual Second Look for applicants to learn more about the experiences of our current caregivers, who represent groups that are considered underrepresented in medicine (URM).
