Providing Comprehensive Training to the Care of the Head and Neck Cancer Patient

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at University Hospitals and University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University, offers a one-year Head & Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstruction Fellowship. The head and neck surgical team includes Nicole Fowler, MD, Pierre Lavertu, MD, Shawn Li, MD, Rod Rezaee, MD, Akina Tamaki, MD, Theodoros Teknos, MD, and Jason E. Thuener, MD.

Fellowship Program Objectives

This one-year Head & Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstruction Fellowship offers advanced training in the following:

  • Endoscopic and open skull base surgery
  • Microvascular free tissue transfer
  • Minimally invasive head and neck surgery
  • More than 200 cases per year
  • Sentinel node mapping for head and neck melanoma
  • Transoral laser and transoral robotic surgery

Fellowship Requirements and Opportunities

Head & Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstruction Fellowship requirements and opportunities include:

  • 1-11 call
  • Clinical duties
  • Clinical or basic science research
  • Participation in our resident microvascular course and skull base workshop
  • Productivity bonus in line with a competitive fellowship salary
