Julia Liebner MD

Julia Liebner, MDHailing from the East Coast, Julia never imagined living in the Midwest but is now the biggest Cleveland fan! She grew up in Silver Spring, MD and completed her undergraduate training at Stanford University where she studied environmental change and the emergence of novel infectious diseases. She worked at the Vaccine Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health before attending medical school at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She initially planned on pursuing a career in internal medicine and infectious diseases, but fell in love with pediatrics, particularly working with young adults with chronic medical diseases while rotating through Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospitals as a medical student. She was ecstatic to stay in Cleveland to complete her internal medicine and pediatrics residency at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.

She has a lifelong love of all things microbial and is balancing her interest in infectious diseases and general medicine as a combined internal medicine-pediatrics hospitalist. She works as a pediatric hospitalist at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, working primarily in the community setting at Ahuja Medical Center and St. John’s Medical Center. She also works as am internal medicine hospitalist at St. John’s Medical Center. Her clinical interests include improving HIV PrEP access for adolescent patients in the Cleveland area and increasing resident exposure to community hospital medicine.

Outside the hospital, she can be found running, biking, and swimming in the Cleveland Metroparks and competing in local triathlons. She will (hopefully) soon fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a junior park ranger at the nearby Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
