Comprehensive Training in Medical Genetics for Residents and Fellows

Welcome to the Medical Genetics Residency and Fellowship Programs at Case Western Reserve University / University Hospitals. Thank you for your interest in one of our programs. Our mission is to provide top notch training in medical genetics and mentorship to all of our trainees. Our education includes how to approach, diagnose, and potentially treat common and uncommon anomalies and syndromes. As each trainee is unique, individual training experiences are tailored as much as possible to each resident’s or fellow’s areas of interests and career goals.

Come join a large group of trainees! We have 4 combined internal medicine and medical genetics residents, 3 combined pediatric and medical genetics residents, and 2 laboratory genetics and genomics trainees. Trainees learn from 10 clinical genetics faculty with diverse training backgrounds that include neurology, urology, internal medicine, pediatrics and metabolic genetics. The majority of the clinical training occurs at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and University Hospitals. Trainees have the opportunity to attend many specialty and multidisciplinary clinics with one of our genetics faculty. Some of those clinics include Prader Willi clinic, Marfan Syndrome Clinic, Congenital Cardiac Malformations Clinic, Neurogenetics Clinic, Vascular Anomalies clinic, and Craniofacial clinic.

We offer several American Board of Medical Genetics-accredited training programs including the Categorical Medical Genetics Training Program, the combined Pediatrics/Medical Genetics residency program, and the combined Internal Medicine/Medical Genetics residency program. Fellowship training is also available for Medical Biochemical Genetics and Laboratory Genetics and Genomics.
