Faculty Education, Leadership & Career Development

University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine offer many resources for faculty development in education, leadership, and career development. The Faculty Development web page provides “one-stop shopping” with curated and collated UH faculty resources in these three essential areas.

The position of Career Development and Advancement Officer (CDA Officer) was created in 2018, and jointly supported by the President of UHMG and the President of UHCMC. As the CDA Officer, Marjorie Greenfield, MD, meets with individual faculty members to discuss career planning and promotions, offer workshops and presentations for groups on topics such as promotions, negotiation, and mentoring, and provide advocacy for faculty development and well-being. Please feel free to contact Dr. Greenfield with any webpage feedback, questions, or requests for group presentations or individual meetings.

Teaching & Mentoring

The UH Graduate Medical Education (GME) office offers lots of great resources and “snippets” related to teaching and educational leadership. Snippets are brief presentations on useful topics relevant to residency leaders and faculty. Topics include direct observation tools for supervising residents and students, identifying the problem resident, and clinical supervision, as well as many tools related to residency leadership.

Faculty development tips relevant for new teaching faculty are also available. Learn more about available resources and snippets on the UH DWP (Connection to the UH Network is required to access the DWP).
