  • 3 Blocks: Family Medicine Inpatient Service at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (Day/Night Float System)
  • 1 Block: Internal Medicine Inpatient- 0.5 block Cardiology; 0.5 block Nephrology (at UH Cleveland Medical Center )
  • 1 Block: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU at UH Cleveland Medical Center)
  • 2 Blocks: Pediatrics Inpatient (General and Specialty Care at UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital)
  • 0.5 Block: Newborn Nursery (at UH McDonald Women's Hospital)
  • 1.5 Block: Obstetrics (Labor and Delivery at UH McDonald Women's Hospital)
  • 1 Block: General Surgery (Acute Care Surgery at UH Cleveland Medical Center)
  • 1 Block: Vacation

Post-Graduate Year 2 (PGY2)

  • 2 Blocks: Core Block- Ambulatory Medicine and Scholarship in Family Medicine **
  • 2.5 Blocks: Family Medicine Inpatient Service at UH Cleveland Medical Center (Day/Night Float System)
  • 1 Block: Adult Emergency Room (ED at UH Geauga Medical Center)
  • 1 Block: Pediatrics Emergency Room (ED at UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital)
  • 0.5 Block: Pediatrics Outpatient (Rainbow Ambulatory Practice)
  • 0.5 Block: Obstetrics Outpatient (at UH Geauga)
  • 1 Block: Geriatrics Inpatient/Outpatient (at VA Medical Center)
  • 1 Block: Musculoskeletal Outpatient (Ortho/Sports Medicine)
  • 1 Block: Vascular Medicine and Wound Care
  • 1.5 Blocks: Elective
  • 1 Block: Vacation

Post-Graduate Year 3 (PGY3)

  • 2 Blocks: Core Block - Ambulatory Medicine and Practice Management **
  • 1.5 Blocks: Family Medicine Inpatient Service at UH Cleveland Medical Center (Day/Night Float System)
  • 0.5 Block: Behavioral Medicine (Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison Service at UH Cleveland Medical Center)
  • 2 Blocks: Medical Subspecialties 1 & 2 (Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology and Endocrine- Outpatient)
  • 1 Block: Surgical Subspecialties (Ophthalmology, ENT, Dermatology and Urology- Outpatient)
  • 1 Block: Pediatric Subspecialties (Gastroenterology, Urology and Allergy/Immunology- Outpatient)
  • 1 Block: Gynecology Outpatient and brief outpatient counseling (with psychologist)
  • 1 Block: Sports Medicine
  • 2 Blocks: Elective
  • 1 Block: Vacation

Longitudinal Curriculum

With the longitudinal curriculum approach, time is allocated to monthly nursing home visits during PGY2 and PGY3, home visits program, school/college seasonal sports physicals, monthly residents support group with a psychologist and Balint.
