About

Kara Quan, MD, FACC, FACP, FHRS, is a clinical cardiac electrophysiologist at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, directing the electrophysiology program at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. She is also an Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Dr. Quan earned her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. Her postdoctoral training included an internal medicine residency, cardiology fellowship, serving as chief fellow, followed by both clinical and research fellowships in cardiac electrophysiology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Quan has authored over 50 publications and participates as a scientific reviewer for multiple nationally respected journals including Annals of Internal Medicine, Circulation, Heart Rhythm Journal, Journal of the American College of Cardiology and Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology. She has also led numerous research studies as principal investigator of therapies for patients with atrial fibrillation and other heart arrhythmias.

Dr. Quan is an active member of many distinguished professional societies, serving as former board member for the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Cardiology, former secretary and treasurer for the Northeast Ohio Society for Pacing and Electrophysiology, and education planning committee member for the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. She also serves on national committees related to women’s leadership, clinical and research training, as well as local clinical and quality advisory groups.

Dr. Quan has been elected a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians and Heart Rhythm Society.
