Summer Youth Volunteer Program Positions at UH Cleveland
Atrium Gift Shop: Greet customers and assist with selection of gifts and purchases as needed. Stock shelves. May include some cashiering.
Clerical Volunteer: Assist in office environment performing reception duties, data entry phone and various other clerical tasks.
Musician: Entertain staff, patients and their family members by playing music in the hospital atrium or Seidman Cancer Center. Must be an accomplished musician. Pianos are located at both locations.
Pediatric Activity Cart: Assist in pediatric patients’ well-being through diversional activities. Visit common hospital areas with cart and perform diversional activities with children.
Pediatric Outpatient: Spend time with pediatric patients of various ages performing activities in an outpatient office. May assist with games, coloring or basic crafts.
Rainbow Unit Volunteer: Visit and interact with pediatric patients from birth through eighteen in the activity centers and at patients’ bedsides. Work with patients and families to help make their stay at Rainbow more enjoyable by providing company and comfort to them. You must be 17 years old and entering senior year in high school.
Rainbow Family Resource Center: Pediatric patients and families often need the support of both information and entertainment while hospitalized. Volunteers at the Rainbow Family Resource Center have the opportunity to assist and empower patients and families in seeking health-related information through the internet, books and educational videos. You will also enable patients and families to more easily pass their time here by assisting them in borrowing recreational books and videos from the center. Basic computer interest and skills are necessary.
Seidman Cancer Center Infusion Courier: Patient treatment often depends on lab results. Prompt lab results lead to less wait time and faster treatment. The Infusion Courier will hand-deliver specimens to the Core Lab, Blood Bank, and occasionally to the Seidman Outpatient Lab.
Seidman Cancer Center Patient Carts: Visit inpatient floors, offering diversionary activities to patients and families. Offer complimentary beverages and snacks to patients and families in outpatient waiting areas.
Skilled Nursing Facility: Provide essential tools to help in the recovery of elderly patients. Assist activities staff in Hanna House with scheduled programs (i.e., crafts, music, bingo, games, special events). Provide reading and activity materials and friendly visits to patients.
Smiles with Style: Smiles with Style is a friendly, fun and compassionate volunteer organization that provides hospitalized children with small makeovers and a chance to play make-believe. Smiles with Style offers a fun diversion from their treatments and life in the hospital. The experience provides a time to laugh, play and spend time in a non-medical manner. You must be 17 years old and entering senior year in high school.
Wayfinder: Respond to inquiries from patients and visitors regarding hospital and provide directions /or escort to various hospital locations.
