Information for Patients Regarding Non-Essential Office Appointments, Surgeries and Procedures
Nonessential Office Appointments
Based on the need to optimize physical (or social) distancing and balancing that with the need to continue to provide care to all patients who need it, University Hospitals has implemented this policy:
- All in-person nonessential office visits, wellness checks and screening imaging exams will be postponed beginning Wednesday, March 26, 2020.
- When possible, telemedicine or telephonic consultations will be performed.
Nonessential Surgeries and Procedures
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has declared that nonessential surgeries and procedures that use personal protective equipment (PPE) should not be conducted, effective at the close of business on Wednesday, March 18.
Accordingly, University Hospitals is taking the necessary steps to preserve PPE. If you have a surgery or procedure scheduled on or after Thursday, March 19 that must be postponed, you will receive a call from a UH representative.
If you do not receive a call regarding postponement, your surgery or procedure will take place as scheduled. For any questions or concerns, you may call your doctor’s office.
In supporting the governor’s declaration, UH will strive to preserve the key elements of our physician-patient relationships and make the best decisions on a case-by-case basis. This will ensure the most compassionate and safest approach to protecting the health and well-being of all of our patients.
