Inpatients with Confirmed COVID-19
No visitors will be allowed, with no exceptions other than end-of-life care.
COVID-19 patients who are receiving end-of-life care may have one visitor after receiving the required approval by the chief medical officer, chief nursing officer or designee. The visitor shall wear a mask at all times in the UH facility, including the patient’s room.
- When arriving at the patient unit, the visitor shall receive assistance in donning the appropriate PPE (isolation mask, face shield, gown and gloves). The visitor shall be accompanied by the staff member for the entirety of the visit. The visit will be limited to 20 minutes. The visitor must avoid close contact with the patient. At the end of the visit, the staff member will assist the visitor with appropriate doffing of the PPE, followed by handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. When the visitor leaves, the visitor is to depart from the hospital directly.
