Introduction to Mindfulness Class-Virtual 1
Mondays starting Monday, November 4, 2019 at 11:00 AM through Monday, December 23, 2019
Mindfulness is a way of paying attention in the present moment, on purpose, and non-judgmentally. Through the use of formal and informal practices we can train our minds and bodies in this kind of awareness. Participants will receive an introduction to the principles of mindfulness. This is an interactive class and cameras are encouraged .This class is free to UH employees through GPS.
Taught by Suzanne Cushwa Rusnak, MEd, MSSA. Suzanne is trained in teaching Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), as well as in teaching mindfulness to children K-12. She has been teaching mindfulness for seven years, and has been involved with several research studies regarding the impacts of mindfulness on physical and mental health.
What Mindfulness Can Do
More than 35 years of research has shown that practicing Mindfulness can result in positive changes in things like:
- pain sensitivity
- stress
- blood pressure
- anxiety and depression
- sense of well-being
- attention and focus
- emotion regulation
- immune function
