Advances in Childhood Scoliosis
Wednesday, August 4, 2021 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Learn about symptoms, diagnosis and new treatment options
Scoliosis is a condition of the spine affecting about 2 – 3% of children and adolescents. Characterized by a side-to-side curve of the spine – in a ‘c’ or ‘s’ shape, scoliosis can cause curves ranging from 10 degrees (mild) to 50+ (severe requiring surgery). Spinal fusion surgery has been the standard of care for many years with much success. Now there are new advances in surgical techniques including minimally invasive non-fusion alternatives such as Vertebral Body Tethering and more recent procedures using mobile technology. These newer techniques are showing promise of shortened hospital stays and better patient outcomes. We will discuss the new landscape of pediatric scoliosis treatment options both non-surgical and surgical.
Join Christina Hardesty, MD, pediatric orthopedic surgeon at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's, for a free webinar. Dr. Hardesty will discuss the new landscape of pediatric scoliosis treatment options, both nonsurgical and surgical.
The event is free but registration is required.
