Steve Weitzner is the Chief Operations Officer for the Harrington Discovery Institute. He works closely with HDI and UH leadership to oversee all aspects of administration and delivery of programs.
Steve has spent his career growing companies and business divisions while also helping organizations and executives navigate complex business transactions and relationships. He previously founded and grew a leading economic development and site selection firm, Silverlode Consulting Corp. As president of Silverlode for more than 15 years, Steve advised many large companies and state and local government agencies, helping secure over $1 billion in economic and tax incentives value for his clients. Steve previously founded and directed the Business Incentives Services group for the Lake Erie Area of Ernst & Young and helped create and launch a national site selection and economic development consulting practice at Coopers & Lybrand.
Steve has been published in many journals including the Journal of State Taxation, the Journal of Multistate Taxation and Incentives, Site Selection, Trade & Industry Development and the CCH Business Incentives Guide. He has been a speaker at the Brookings Institution, the World Forum for Foreign Direct Investment, Council for Urban Economic Development, the International Economic Development Council and many regional economic development conferences.
Steve earned the Master of Business Administration degree from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a Master of Music degree (French horn) from the University of Akron. He is an avid skier, a bicycle commuter when the Cleveland weather allows it (both months), and squash enthusiast (the game, not the vegetable).
