Meet our Physician Liaison Team
The members of the University Hospitals physician liaison team are available to help referring physicians navigate through the referral process, address specific issues or concerns, and help facilitate communication between referring physicians and UH specialists. Our knowledgeable team is happy to assist physicians with any problems that may arise and to help make the referral process go as smoothly as possible. We look forward to working with individual physicians and their staff to help them form and maintain meaningful relationships with University Hospitals.
Rhonda Allen-Scott, Supervisor, Clinical Integration, East Region & Senior Physician Liaison
Rhonda Allen-Scott possesses solid background in business development and marketing communications in the health care industry. Prior to joining UH, Rhonda worked in the payer industry, managing marketing and outreach efforts with physicians and community stakeholders with a nationally ranked insurance carrier. Enriching her perspective of the health care market space, and the patient experience is the time she spent working in physician outreach and marketing roles at a community based health care system. It was during this time that Rhonda developed a strong sense of commitment to health care and its impact on the community it’s privileged to serve. Rhonda has spent 20+ years in service –related industries, leading strategic marketing and product launch initiatives, including the design and implementation of client satisfaction and process improvement programs in healthcare and environmental services. She is a graduate of the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business & Organizational Communications with a special focus in Public Relations.
Rhonda’s service area includes: Eastern Cuyahoga county.
Michael Bauman, Physician Liaison
Michael joined University Hospitals in 2016 as a Physician Liaison. Michael brings with him nine years of pharmaceutical industry experience with a focus on developing hospital and physician relationships. During that time, he earned national recognition and an opportunity to move into brand management. Michael also participated in a management and mentoring program, which further developed the collaborative leadership skills he brings to University Hospitals. He is passionate about making a positive impact in the healthcare industry. Michael is a graduate of the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Management.
Michael’s service area includes: Southwest Cuyahoga, Medina and Western Summit counties and City of Cleveland.
Nicole Burfield, RN, Physician Liaison
Nicole Burfield brings over 18 years of health care industry experience. Prior to joining UH, Nicole had worked as a physician liaison for a hospital system, where she was an integral part of onboarding and marketing for physicians within the system, with a focus on the cardiovascular service line. She started her medical career working for a national leader in the medical supply industry as a sales representative, and later managed a team of sales reps who had expertise in understanding all regional and national insurance payers, while focusing on selling diabetes testing supplies, and other disposable medical supplies to physicians and hospital case managers.
Nicole has lived in Ohio for her whole life and obtained her Bachelor of Nursing degree at the University of Akron.
Nicole’s service area includes: Portage, Trumbull, Stark, Mahoning and Eastern Summit counties
Sarah Frey, Physician Liaison
Sarah joined University Hospitals in September 2010 as a Marketing Strategist in UH Physician Services. While at UH Physician Services, Sarah implemented marketing strategies for new University Hospitals’ specialists and primary care physicians, including interpersonal networking, developing print materials and coordinating community events. She transitioned to the role of Physician Liaison for UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in May 2014. Sarah is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University and has a Masters of Arts in Mass Communications and Journalism, with a concentration in Public Relations from Kent State University.
Sarah’s service area includes: Pediatric Services, East Region.
Anna Kachevas, Physician Liaison
Anna joined University Hospitals in 2014 as a Pediatrics Practice Manager for a UH Rainbow Pediatrics practice on Cleveland’s west side. She managed all aspects of the practice. Implemented team building, coaching, training and problem solving for staff and patients. Prior to joining UH she developed and executed formal marketing strategies and customer service programs for healthcare providers in Iowa and Ohio. She transitioned to the role of Physician Liaison for UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in October 2015. She is a graduate from Loras College in Dubuque, IA with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.
Anna’s service area includes: Pediatric Services, West Region.
Jason Lansdale, Supervisor, Clinical Integration, West Region & Senior Physician Liaison
Jason joined University Hospitals in August, 2013. He has a strong background in physician business development and in cardiovascular service line marketing. He has served in a variety of roles including marketing with large academic medical centers and more recently with a Cleveland-based biotechnology startup. Prior to entering the healthcare industry Jason spent 7 years with a Fortune 500 technology company in both marketing and field sales support roles and began his career in wireless telecommunications. Jason is a graduate of Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He currently serves on the Wright State University Alumni Association Board of Directors and is an active member of the American Association of Physician Liaisons (AAPL).
Jason’s service area includes: Northwest Cuyahoga, Ashland, Richland and Wayne counties.
Rance Mack, Physician Liaison
Rance joined University Hospitals in September 2015. He possesses 10+ years of healthcare industry experience that includes physician outreach and marketing cardiovascular products within the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining UH, Rance trained physicians, practice managers and their staff on health care quality metrics to increase efficiency and value related to improving patient care. His previous work experience to joining the healthcare industry includes Social Work and Mortgage Banking. Rance is a graduate of Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.
Rance’s service area includes: Ashland, Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa and Sandusky Counties.
Shannon Tracy, Physician Liaison
Shannon has been with University Hospitals since 2016, serving in the Transplant Institute. In her role, Shannon coordinated physician outreach, developed educational programs for both clinicians and patients, and forged partnerships with organizations that support and align the mission of organ donation and transplantation. Shannon also sits on several boards and planning committees throughout the community. Prior to joining University Hospitals, Shannon began her health care career with a large fortune 500 biotechnology company, teaching and training hospital staff how to use medical devices. Shannon has a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with a minor in chemistry from Ohio University. Shannon also has a master’s degree in business administration in health care from Baldwin Wallace University.
