About
William Scott Sheldon, DO, FACC, is an interventional cardiologist at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute.
Dr. Sheldon earned his medical degree from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. His postdoctoral training included an internal medicine residency, cardiovascular disease fellowship and interventional cardiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He served as chief interventional cardiology fellow and participated on several clinical events committees, including one focused on time to treatment for acute myocardial infarction, during his tenure.
Dr. Sheldon is board certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. He began his medical career by joining North Ohio Heart, Inc., and has been in practice for more than 25 years. He is highly skilled in minimally invasive procedures for patients with acute and chronic heart conditions such as heart attack, aortic dissections, intramural hematomas, congestive heart failure and heart valve disorders.
Outside of caring for his patients, Dr. Sheldon has contributed to the medical field as an author of publications in respected medical journals on topics related to percutaneous coronary interventions and advanced cardiovascular imaging modalities.
Dr. Sheldon is a member of multiple national professional organizations including the American College of Physicians, American Heart Association, American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association and Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (SCAI). He has been named a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC). On a local level, Dr. Sheldon is a member of the Lorain County Medical Society.
