Bio

My passion is caring for older adults. I believe that if you have breath in your lungs, you have purpose, and I am committed to that purpose. I will fight alongside my patients so they can be at their best.

My desire to be a physician began at a very young age. I was born in India, but grew up in Saudi Arabia. My family planned to move back to India, but we weren’t able to make it out of the region during the Gulf War. My parents both worked in medicine and the hospital became the safe haven for people during the war. I was able to watch my parents work and got to talk with physicians and patients. It became clear to me that I wanted to care for people, and I began my pre-med education at 16 years old in India. After school, I moved to the U.S. for an internal medicine residency and a fellowship in geriatrics.

I chose to work at UH because it had a reputation for personalized care and I find that to be very true. I come into contact with my patients’ world, their friends, families, acquaintances, and I fight to keep them healthy physically, emotionally and mentally.

About Our Survey

At University Hospitals, we believe in providing patients with all the information they need to make educated decisions about their health care and to choose the right doctor to meet their needs. That is why we partner with the independent patient satisfaction company Press Ganey to survey patients about their experiences at UH facilities and with UH physicians. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of care and are dedicated to creating a positive patient experience for every individual who sees a UH doctor.

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
