Bio

M. Hammad Rashid, M.D., is a specialist in hematology and oncology (cancer) in the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Dr. Rashid is board certified in hematology, medical oncology and internal medicine. His special interests include solid tumors, hematological disorders, and neuroendocrine malignancies. He joined UH in 2014.

Prior to joining the UH staff, he was the Assistant Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

Dr. Rashid earned his medical degree in 1995 at King Edward Medical College in Pakistan. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, followed by a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina.

A dedicated researcher, Dr. Rashid designed a phase I trial of Epirubicin and Taxotere in patients with metastatic androgen independent prostate cancer. He then designed a phase II trial of Xeloda and Oxaliplatin in advanced gastric cancer. He has had a number of publications involving the management and therapy for prostate cancer, HIV related Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome, pleural cavity, and more. In 2014, Dr. Rashid spoke at Ohio University about updates in colon cancer.
