Bio

Howard R. Hall, PhD, PsyD, BCB, is a psychologist in the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and Psychology at University Hospitals, Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Psychological Sciences at Case Western Reserve University.

He is board certified in biofeedback from the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America and is an Approved Consultant in Clinical Hypnosis by The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. His special interests include integrative health care.

Dr. Hall earned his undergraduate degree from Delaware State University, Dover, Del., a doctorate in experimental psychology from Princeton University, Princeton, N.J., and a doctorate in clinical psychology from Rutgers University, Piscataway, N.J. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention through Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He was appointed to the UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital staff in 1987.

Dr. Hall has presented at numerous national and international medical conferences and workshops, speaking on the role of pediatric hypnosis and integrative therapies in healing. He has been a visiting professor on pain management and healing research in Iraq, Egypt and Jordan. His research experience spans more than 25 years and includes studies on rapid wound healing, hypnosis and the immune system, and integrative techniques for pain management.

Dr. Hall has published nearly three dozen articles in professional journals, co-authored two books on healing and contributed more than a dozen textbook chapters. He has made more than 40 abstracts presentations at national meetings and has gained attention in the national media for his research on rapid wound healing.

Dr. Hall’s professional memberships include the American Psychological Association, American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, Association of Black Psychologists, Association for Applied Psychophysiology & Biofeedback, the Society for Behavioral Pediatrics, and the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. He is a board member of the Monterey Institute for the Study of Alternative Healing Arts, Carmel, Calif.

About Our Survey

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized.
