Anne Mackow, MD, is a pediatric surgeon at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and UH Ahuja Medical Center. She aso sees patients at UH Mentor Health Center. She is Assistant Clinical Professor, Surgery, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Dr. Mackow is board certified in surgery and certified in acute trauma life support and pediatric acute life support. Her special interests include congenital diaphragmatic hernia repair, anorectal malformation repair and Hirschsprung's disease. She also is interested in the holistic care of expectant mothers with prenatal diagnoses of congenital anomalies.

Dr. Mackow completed her undergraduate work at Amherst College, Amherst, Mass., graduating magna cum laude with a degree in chemistry. She earned her medical degree and a Master’s of Public Health from New York Medical College, Valhalla, N.Y. She served her residency in general surgery at the University of California at Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, Calif., and a fellowship in pediatric surgery at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla. She joined the UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital staff in 2013.

Dr. Mackow’s research interests include development of specialized surgical techniques for infants and children such as thoracoscopic repair of congenital diaphragmatic hernia and two-stage basilic vein transposition for pediatric dialysis. She has authored or coauthored nearly a dozen papers in peer-reviewed journals about her basic and clinical research related to innovative surgical techniques and presented at national pediatric and medical meetings.

She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Surgeons and Christian Medical and Dental Association.

Dr. Mackow has participated in medical mission trips to Togo, Kenya and Ghana and is involved in many community service projects in the local area as a well. In her leisure time, she enjoys piano, singing, salsa dancing, photography, running, yoga and ultimate Frisbee.

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
